in line with the OpenPGP standard, OpenKeychain itself is certainly not a texting or e-mail application but rather combines with preferred Android os apps like K-9 Mail and Conversations in order to make OpenPGP encryption easily offered to cellular people. The application does require people to keep, control, and change encryption tips manually, rendering it a little less available for non-technical people, but continues to be a very popular option for those who are knowledgeable about OpenPGP or any other encryption protocols.
